He now holds the record for the highest score by an Indian No. 7 batter at The Gabba, Brisbane. The previous record of 63 runs was set by Chandu Borde, who had built a crucial partnership with centurion Motganhalli Jaisimha during an unsuccessful chase.

Jadeja's innings and a late surge by tail-enders Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep helped India to get pas 246 runs to avoid the follow-on.

Speaking of Jadeja, there is no doubt that he is a huge asset to any team he plays, be it in any format and today's performance proves exactly why.

But not many has realised that Jadeja boasts of an an average in Tests, which is more than Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Chesteshwar Pujara and even Rohit Sharma.

Jadeja boasts an impressive batting average of 56.75. Prior to this match, he had played only five innings in Australia: 4 and 5 in Melbourne (2018), 81 in Sydney (2019), 57 in Melbourne (2020), and 28* in Sydney (2021). What stands out, however, is that among Indian batsmen who have faced at least 400 balls in Test matches against Australia down under, Jadeja holds the highest average. His performance surpasses that of cricketing legends like Sachin Tendulkar (53.20), Virat Kohli (50.96), Cheteshwar Pujara (47.28), and Rohit Sharma (26.68).

Day 4 Result

India faced a challenging day 4 but managed to avoid the follow-on, finishing at 246/7 by the close of play. Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep added an unbeaten 39-run partnership, helping India reach that total. KL Rahul stood out with a gritty 84, falling to Nathan Lyon after a stunning catch from Steve Smith. His partnership with Jadeja was also a crucial one.
