Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's wife Rivaba Jadeja - the sitting MLA from Gujarat's Jamnagar constituency - is in the news after a video of her verbal spat with a fellow Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader went viral on social media on Thursday (August 17).
Rivaba - who was elected MLA during last year's Gujarat Assembly elections from Jamnagar North seat - had some heated exchange of words with the BJP mayor from her constituency, Beena Kothari.

The incident happened during the 'Meri Mitti Mera Desh' programme organised by Jamnagar Municipal Corporation. Rivaba, reportedly, also had an argument with sitting BJP MP Poonamben Maadam.
Several prominent BJP leaders from Jamnagar were present when the entire incident happened. Some even tried to calm both parties as tensions kept flaring.
Later Rivaba revealed what triggered the entire verbal spat between her and the BJP mayor and MP. The India cricketer's wife revealed that MP Poonam Maadam took a dig at her gesture of removing her footwear before offering her tribute to the bust of the martyrs installed at the venue.
Rivaba told media persons, "MP Poonam Maadam paid tribute to the martyrs by wearing shoes, I took off the shoes, then he said loudly that PM-President does not take off shoes but some mindless people act over smart, then I had to retort."
Earlier last year, Rivaba made her debut in politics by defeating her nearest rival in the urban constituency of Jamnagar North by more than 50000 votes and became an elected Member of Gujarat's Legislative Assembly.
According to the Election Commission website, Rivaba came out victorious by defeating Aam Aadmi Party's contestant. 88835 votes were polled in favour of the India cricketer's wife, while her nearest rival Karshan Karmur (AAP) got 35265 votes. Congress party's Bipendrasinh Jadeja, who is Ravindra Jadeja's brother-in-law, finished third and polled 23274 votes.
Ravindra Jadeja - who was out of action from professional cricket due to an injury - campaigned for his wife during the Assembly Elections and thanked the supporters for showing faith in Rivaba.
