Defending Women's Premier League (WPL) champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have taken a bold step in the WPL 2025 auction, splurging ₹1.20 crore on uncapped Indian all-rounder Prema Rawat.
This strategic move, part of RCB's calculated approach to bolstering their squad, highlights their commitment to building a versatile and competitive roster ahead of the new season.

Hailing from Haridwar, Uttarakhand, 23-year-old Rawat entered the auction at a base price of ₹10 lakh. A fierce bidding war ensued, with RCB ultimately outbidding Delhi Capitals to secure the services of the talented leg-spin all-rounder. Known for her calm temperament and consistent performances, Rawat's stock has risen rapidly after her match-winning 32-run knock in the UPL 2024 final, a performance that earned her the Player of the Match award.
Rawat has showcased her potential across 49 games in all formats, claiming 54 wickets with an impressive economy rate of just over 4. Her leg-spin has been instrumental in breaking crucial partnerships, while her ability to deliver with the bat in pressure situations adds significant value to any team.
"She brings great control as a wrist spinner, which is invaluable in T20 cricket," said RCB Head Coach Luke Williams. "Strengthening our spin arsenal was a key priority, and Prema fits the role perfectly. We've built this squad with the upcoming tournament in mind and are confident that these players can make an immediate impact."
With ₹3.25 crore in the purse and four slots to fill, RCB also secured promising domestic talents Joshitha VJ, Raghvi Bist, and Jagravi Pawar for ₹10 lakh each. The trio, alongside Rawat, has been selected for their versatility and potential to adapt to various match conditions.
RCB's strategy aligns with their philosophy of bold and fearless cricket, as exemplified by their 2024 title-winning campaign. Star players like Ellyse Perry and Shreyanka Patil dominated with the Orange and Purple Caps, respectively, last season. The inclusion of Prema Rawat adds another dimension to an already dynamic team.
