The Indian Premier League (IPL) has a global fan base, but the passion of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporters stands out. Despite not winning a trophy in 17 years, their loyalty remains strong.
The chant "Ee Saala Cup naamde" or "This year, the Cup is ours" echoes through Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB fans even create a vibrant atmosphere at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane during an India Women's team match against the Southern Stars.

Ramprasad, a Brisbane resident for 26 years, expressed his unwavering support for RCB. "We are always RCB fans. Both women and men teams. Extremely happy and proud that our women's team has won the WPL last year and we want the men's team to emulate that in 2025," he said. He has attended nearly every Indian men's game at the Gabba, where the third Test between India and Australia will start from December 14.
Ajay Mohan Patan, an IT consultant who moved to Brisbane in 2007, shares Ramprasad's optimism about RCB's future success. "Everywhere we go we carry red and blue colours. We always play bold and win the heart. Yes we have not won the cup but I am sure we will win this time. Ee Saala cup namde. I would appeal to the fans to have patience. RCB is forever our team," he stated.
Ramprasad, a life-member cardholder of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), has watched an IPL match in Bengaluru. He hopes for Virat Kohli to score a century at the Gabba. Reflecting on past performances, he noted, "We played well at Perth but Adelaide was a disappointment. Hopefully, the team will turn this around in Brisbane like last time."
Despite not yet securing an IPL title, Ajay believes in Virat Kohli's leadership and consistency. "Although he hasn’t won the IPL yet but we have to look at the consistency. We can’t always have the cup in our mind. We have to believe in a process. It is just a matter of time before we win the Cup," he remarked.
The dedication of RCB fans is unwavering, with many carrying tricolours and RCB flags to international matches. Ajay emphasised Virat Kohli's unique contribution: "Our loyalty as fans is unwavering. One player has played for so many years for one team. You must understand that there is no player like Virat. He is a player for the ages. The Cup will certainly come," he added.
The fervour of RCB supporters remains undiminished as they continue to back their team with hope and enthusiasm for future victories.
