RCB Flop and Unsold IPL player breaks Chris Gayle record with 19 Sixes in MLC 2025!

By MyKhel Staff

The Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, USA's premier T20 cricket competition started with an absolute blockbuster on Thursday (June 12).

Finn Allen delivered a masterclass in power-hitting during the MLC 2025 season opener, smashing an astonishing 151 off just 51 balls. His innings, played for the San Francisco Unicorns against Washington Freedom, wasn't just destructive - it was historic. Allen's assault rewrote the T20 record books, setting a new global benchmark for six-hitting and redefining what's possible in a league still finding its feet on American soil.

Finn Allen breaks Chris Gayle Record

Allen reached his century in just 34 deliveries, the fastest in MLC history and one of the quickest in the format globally. But the true spectacle was his six-hitting spree.

He cleared the ropes 19 times, setting a new world record for most sixes in a T20 innings. This feat surpassed the long-standing mark of 18 sixes held jointly by Chris Gayle and a few others.

San Francisco Unicorns Dominate with Record Total

Powered by Allen's carnage, the Unicorns posted a mammoth 269 for 5 - the highest team total in MLC history. Washington Freedom, chasing an impossible target, crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 146. The Unicorns' 123-run victory became the largest margin of win in MLC history, underlining the gap that Allen had single-handedly created with his bat.

While Allen's innings thrilled the 5,000-strong crowd in Oakland, it resonated far beyond the stadium. The match featured a ceremonial start involving cricketing greats like Adam Gilchrist, Curtly Ambrose, and Courtney Walsh, emphasizing MLC's ambition to blend tradition with innovation. But it was Allen who stole the night.

The 26-year-old has been a top player in T20 format and has often showcased his devastating batting prowess. But Allen has been ignored by the IPL teams for the past three auctions. A few years ago, the Kiwi was part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad, but never played a match for RCB, who incidentally won their first IPL title this year. With a magnificent start to MLC 2025, Allen would be hoping to preserve his form, which can skyrocket his stock in the coming days.
