The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will play the 'Go Green' game of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season on Sunday (April 20) against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
RCB will sport their green jerseys for the fifth time away from their actual home venue in Bengaluru. The 2020, 2021 and 2022 season matches were held in different venues behind closed doors or with a limited crowd capacity due to COVID pandemic.

In the 2024 season also they were forced to play their green jersey match away from home due to non-availability of 3:30 PM start in their home schedule. The 2025 season also being held away from home for the same reason. This will also be the third time RCB face RR in the 'Go Green’ match.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru has contested in a green jersey in at least one game of every season since the 2011 edition, but the Bengaluru-based side sported a special Blue jersey in support of the frontline workers in the 2021 season.
The 'Go Green' initiative was coined for creating awareness about planting trees and reducing the effect of Global Warming. The skipper of RCB will also present a plant as a memento to the opposition skipper during the toss as part of the special initiative.
The Bengaluru-based franchise wears the green jerseys made of 100 percent recycled materials and have mostly worn the special kit during the afternoon matches. And hence the match against RR, which takes place at 3:30 PM on April 20th has been picked as the 'Go Green' day.
So far, RCB have played a total of 14 games in the Green Jersey, but possess a poor record as they have just won four times, while one match was abandoned in 2015 against Delhi Capitals due to rain.
RCB first sported the green jersey in the 2011 season against now defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala, whom they defeated by 9 wickets, thanks to the fireworks from opening duo Chris Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan after the bowlers restricted KTK to 128.
Their second win came in 2016 when Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers centuries broke many records, annihilating now defunct Gujarat Lions for a 144 runs victory. Their third win came when they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 67 runs in 2022 season.
In the their most recent win in 2023, Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell fifties powered RCB to 189 before Harshal Patel held the nerve to concede just 12 runs in the final over to seal a 7-run win.
However, RCB have suffered more defeats than wins in the green jersey matches as they have lost 8 of the 13 fixtures played in the special jerseys, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders three times followed by two defeats to Chennai Super Kings, and one loss each against RR, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.
