IPL 2023: Glenn Maxwell, Will Jacks' replacement Michael Bracewell go berserk in RCB practice match

IPL 2023: Glenn Maxwell might just have shrugged off all his injury concerns after smashing unbeaten 78 runs (including six sixes) off just 46 balls in the RCB practice match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. The knock helped Suyash XI beat Faf XI by four wickets.

Batting first Faf XI led by RCB captain Faf du Plessus scored 215 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell, who has replaced England's Will Jacks in the side, hit a splendid hundred and finished at unbeaten 105 off 55 deliveries.

Du Plessis also chipped in with 47 runs off 35 balls. David Willey's unbeaten 22 off 11 towards the end helped Faf XI finish their innings on a high. Leg-spinner Himanshu Sharma, 24, picked two wickets in the first innings.

Maxwell and Mahipal Lomror anchored the run chase for Suyash XI. The latter smashed 48 unbeaten runs off 27 balls before getting retired hurt like his senior partner Maxwell. Wicketkeeper-batter Anuj Rawat (32* off 16) also chipped in with handy runs to help his side chase down the massive target.

Faf XI pacer Mohammed Mohammed Siraj leaked 49 runs in four overs to pick two wickets. Left-arm pacer Reece Topley picked one wicket after spending 32 runs in four overs. Bracewell bowled two overs for one wicket after spending 16 runs.

Former captain Virat Kohli did not feature in the RCB practice game. The side play their first match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Bengaluru on Sunday. Reports have suggested that Maxwell would miss the first match as he has still not recovered from his leg injury.
