RCB Practice Match Highlights: Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma Shine Ahead of IPL 2026

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's preparations for IPL 2026 received a major boost after Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, and Jitesh Sharma delivered standout performances in a high-scoring intra-squad practice match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 22.

In a contest that produced over 480 runs, Team Krunal chased down a daunting target of 235 to defeat Team Venky, offering strong early signs of RCB's batting depth ahead of their season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28.

With several key batters finding form, the practice match provided encouraging signals for the defending champions as they finalise their combinations for IPL 2026.

Jitesh Sharma Sets The Tone Ahead of IPL 2026

Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma emerged as one of the biggest positives from the game, producing a blistering knock of 81 off 37 deliveries.

Batting for Team Venky, Jitesh showcased his finishing credentials with aggressive stroke play, maintaining a strike rate above 200 against quality bowling within the squad. His innings helped power Team Venky to a formidable total of 234 for 7 after opting to bat first.

RCB are expected to rely heavily on Jitesh in the middle and death overs this season, particularly at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where quick scoring in the closing stages often proves decisive.

His ability to accelerate from the outset makes him a crucial component of RCB's batting plans heading into the new campaign.

Rajat Patidar Carries RCB Confidence

RCB captain Rajat Patidar carried his strong form into the practice game, smashing a rapid 74 off just 25 balls to lead Team Krunal's successful chase.

Patidar's innings anchored the pursuit of the massive target and reflected the confidence he has built over recent months. The right-hander has been in exceptional touch following a strong domestic season, and his aggressive approach during the chase highlighted his readiness to lead from the front.

As captain and a key middle-order batter, Patidar's form will be central to RCB's title defence, especially in high-pressure chases.

Devdutt Padikkal Adds Stability In High-Scoring Chase

Devdutt Padikkal also played a significant role in the successful run chase, contributing a composed 63 off 33 balls.

While Patidar provided the early momentum, Padikkal ensured stability through the middle overs, rotating strike effectively while keeping the required rate under control. His knock complemented Patidar's aggression and helped maintain momentum throughout the chase.

Padikkal's return to consistent scoring form could be a major boost for RCB, particularly as the team looks to build strong partnerships in the top and middle order.

Positive Signs For RCB Ahead Of Season Opener

The practice match highlighted the depth and firepower within the RCB batting lineup, with multiple players stepping up under match-like conditions.

With Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal, and Jitesh Sharma all showing strong form ahead of IPL 2026, RCB will head into their opening clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad with growing confidence.

If these performances translate into the main tournament, RCB's batting unit could once again emerge as one of the most dangerous in the competition.
