Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), one of the most popular teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has reached a significant social media milestone. The team has garnered over 15 million followers on Instagram, becoming the second IPL team to achieve this feat.
The only team ahead of RCB in terms of Instagram followers is Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which boasts 16 million followers on the platform. Despite RCB's struggles on the field, where they have yet to win an IPL title, their fanbase remains one of the most dedicated and engaged.

This strong online following reflects the growing impact of the IPL beyond stadiums and television screens. Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter have become crucial spaces for fans to connect with their favorite teams and players, share match moments, and engage in discussions.
While RCB leads on Instagram, other teams have established dominance on different social media platforms. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has the largest following on Facebook, with 17 million followers. This reflects the early popularity of Facebook as a platform for IPL fans.
Although Facebook's influence has somewhat waned with the rise of Instagram and Twitter, it's still remarkable. Mumbai Indians is another team with a robust social media presence, ranking second on Facebook with 14 million followers and third on Instagram with over 14.1 million followers.
RCB in IPL
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is one of the original franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), founded in 2008. Despite their immense popularity and strong squad over the years, RCB has yet to win an IPL title. The team is known for having star-studded lineups in its history.
This includes legendary cricketers like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle. RCB has reached the IPL finals three times (in 2009, 2011, and 2016) but fell short of winning the trophy. Despite these setbacks, RCB's passionate fanbase, dubbed the "RCB Army," continues to support the team year after year.
