Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has opted for a big overhaul of their squad as the franchise retained only three players, including one uncapped player on the IPL 2025 retention deadline day on Thursday, October 31.
RCB retained only Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal, but released the likes of Faf Du Plessis, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green and Will Jacks among a total of 22 players that were let go ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

By retaining only three players - 2 capped and 1 uncapped, RCB can use three Right to Match cards at the big auction. So, there is every chance Indian pacers Siraj and Akash Deep, South Africa's Du Plessis, England's Jacks and Australia's Maxwell could find a way back in the side via RTMs.
Australian all-rounder Green would have been on top of RCB's list for retentions, but an injury lay-off of potentially 9 months has ruled him out of being available for the upcoming season.
Apart from the big names, RCB also let go of four more overseas players - New Zealand's Lockie Ferguson, West Indies' Alzari Joseph, England duo Reece Topley and Tom Curran.
Dinesh Karthik has also been released, having announced his retirement and transitioning to a coaching role at RCB. Also, the team's several uncapped Indian stars were not retained.
Karnataka pacer Vyshak Vijaykumar, who recently earned a India call up for the South Africa series, has also been let go along with his state teammate Manoj Bhandage, who exits without making even one appearance for the franchise.
Karn Sharma, who would have qualified as an uncapped player also was not retained by RCB alongside the likes of Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror, Suyash Prabhudessai, Himanshu Sharma, Swapnil Singh, Saurav Chauhan, Rajan Kumar and Mayank Dagar. Here is the full list of players released by RCB:
