RCB Remaining Purse 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will enter the IPL 2025 Mega Auction with the second biggest purse after retaining just three players from their 2024 squad on the retention deadline day (Thursday, October 31).
The Bengaluru-based side let go of all their overseas stars and retained two Indian capped and one Indian uncapped player ahead of the IPL Mega Auction, which is likely to be held later this month in Saudi Arabia.

On expected lines, RCB's top retention was their star player Virat Kohli, who is set to continue his journey with the Bengaluru-based side for the next three years. Kohli is likely to finish 20 seasons with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, having joined the team in 2008.
Indian batter Rajat Patidar and soon-to-be capped pacer Yash Dayal made up the retention for RCB. With just three retentions being made, RCB will have the flexibility of using Right to Match cards at the auction to buy back some of their released players.
RCB did not retain the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Will Jacks, Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. However, three of the four could still be bought back using the RTM in the big auction.
The three retentions does not only allow three RTM options, but also allows RCB to go big for their primary targets at the auction with the second biggest purse. Here is a look at their remaining purse and potential targets at the IPL Mega Auction:
Like the other nine teams, RCB was also allocated a budget of Rs 120 Crore for the upcoming IPL 2025. Following the three retentions - Virat Kohli (Rs 21 Crore), Rajat Patidar (Rs 11 Crore) and Yash Dayal (Rs 5 Crore), RCB are left with Rs 83 Crore to spend at the IPL Auction 2025.
The squad size limit is 25, while a team can enter the season even with an 18-player squad. RCB will need a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 22 players to finalize their roster for the IPL 2025 season. Remaining budget could be enough for RCB to form a challenging squad.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru will target more Indian players, which is something they have failed to address in the past auctions. RCB's main targets could be Team India players like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Shami.
However, not all can be bought without competition from the other nine teams at the auction table. Rahul and Chahal, two former players at the franchise, will be RCB's biggest targets at the two-day auction, which is likely to be held later this month.
