Royal Challengers Bangalore have opted to retain the core of their batting line up and let go 11 players, including the first choice bowling unit from the 2023 squad ahead of the mini auction of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
RCB have retained skipper Faf Du Plessis, star batter Virat Kohli, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik and pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj among the 18 players from the squad that finished sixth on the points table in IPL 2023.

Apart from the retentions, the Bangalore-based franchise, which is yet to win the title in 16 attempts, has also roped in Australia all-rounder Cameron Green as a cash-only trade from Mumbai Indians for Rs 17.50 Crore.
Meanwhile, RCB released the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel and Josh Hazlewood, who were the first choice picks in the bowling attack from the past two seasons. Aside from the trio that freed up almost Rs 30 Crore, RCB also released 8 other players, including four overseas stars.
Despite blowing a chunk of their budget on Green, RCB's purse is still good enough to fill in the void especially in the bowling attack as they need at least three if not two first-choice options.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to bring back some of their former players for cheaper price than they paid for them in the previous auction. They will also look to add some exciting T20 talent with 6 slots still left to fill at the auction on December 19, 2023.
