RCB star decides to join English Country Hampshire, set to be part of History in County Cricket

By MyKhel Staff

Australian cricket icon Ellyse Perry has signed with Hampshire, a statement overseas signing for the women's side ahead of the inaugural Tier One county competition.

One of the most decorated players in women’s cricket, Perry’s accolades include six T20 World Cups, two ODI World Cups, a Commonwealth Games gold medal, and five Ashes series victories. She played a key role in Australia’s dominant 16-0 sweep of England and remains the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker in Women’s Ashes history.

Ellyse Perry: International and T20 Leagues Stats

With a career spanning over 300 international matches, Perry has consistently redefined excellence in both batting and bowling. She became the first cricketer, male or female, to achieve the double of 1,000 T20I runs and 100 wickets. In ODIs, she has accumulated over 3,500 runs and taken more than 170 wickets, regularly proving a match-winner for Australia.

She holds the highest Test score by an Australian woman, an unbeaten 213, scored during the 2017 Ashes. Her ability to deliver in high-pressure situations has cemented her reputation as one of cricket’s most complete athletes.

In Women's Premier League 2025, she ended up as the second-highest run-scorer, tallying 372 runs at a stunning average of 93. Perry was part of the victorious Royal Challengers Bengaluru women side in the WPL 2024, and so far has been the standout overseas star in the league.

What's Next For Ellyse Perry in Hampshire?

Perry will feature in six Vitality Blast matches during July, along with two appearances in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. She’ll also remain available for Finals Day, should Hampshire qualify. Her debut is scheduled for July 4 against The Blaze at Chesterfield, followed by her first home match on July 6 at the Utilita Bowl against Somerset.
Speaking about her move, Perry expressed her enthusiasm: “I’m really looking forward to joining the Hampshire team this summer. The club has been a trailblazer in the women’s game over the last decade, and I’m excited to be part of this exciting chapter in English domestic cricket.”

Hampshire Women’s interim head coach Paul Prichard welcomed the signing, saying, “Ellyse is among the world’s finest cricketers. Her record speaks volumes, and she brings immense value both on and off the field. She’ll be an incredible asset for the team and a fantastic role model for our younger players.” “Our supporters will be thrilled to see her play in Hawks colours,” he added.
