RCB Unbox 2024: Will WPL-Winning Royal Challengers Bangalore Women's Team Attend Event?

Royal Challengers Bangalore women's team on Sunday (March 17) ended the franchise's 16-year wait for a title following an 8-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in the Women's Premier League (WPL) season 2 final at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The RCB men's team had gone as far as the final on two occasions, but were never able to clinch the title in 16 editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, Smriti Mandhana-led RCB women managed to win a title within two editions of the WPL.

After the spin quartet led by Shreyanka Patil (4 for 16) bundled out DC to 113 in 18.4 overs, Ellyse Perry (35* off 37) and Richa Ghosh (17* off 14) took the game deep as RCB defeated Meg Lanning's side by 8 wickets and 3 balls to spare in the title clash.

The entire fan-base errupted with joy following the title win. Now, the RCB women's team are set for more celebrations with a parade in Bengaluru likely to take place. But will they be part of the RCB Unbox 2024 event on Tuesday (March 19)?

Will the WPL champions be part of RCB Unbox 2024?

Skipper Smriti has confirmed that the women's team will be at the RCB Unbox event following the team's title win. The RCB women's side led by Smriti were part of the Unbox event last year, when legends Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers were inducted into the team's hall of fame.

RCB is likely to organize a parade for the women's team and will also have them attend the RCB Unbox event this year as well. In 2023, Smriti, Renuka Singh, Shreyanka, Richa, Sophie Devine and Kanika Ahuja attended the RCB Unbox event in Bengaluru.

So, there would be no surprise if they attend the event this year as champions with an opportunity for another lap of honour at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have organized the RCB Unbox 2024 event to connect with the fans ahead of the IPL 2024. A name change from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been teased for the event alongside performances from various artists.

The RCB men's team, including skipper Faf Du Plessis and star batter Virat Kohli are set to be at the event, which will see International DJ Alan Walker, Raghu Dixit, Brodha V, Jordindian, Neeti Mohan, Barfi and Katcheri performing, while Kannada cine stars are also set to grace the event.

RCB has teased the name change through clips featuring Shiva Rajkumar, Rishab Shetty, Kiccha Sudeep, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and Danish Sait so far to add hype to the event. More teasers could be in-store before the event.
