RCB vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings Highest Scores In IPL During Power Play

RCB vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings have produced some of the most explosive powerplay performances in Indian Premier League history, underlining their ability to seize control early in an innings. Their best start remains the stunning 100/2 against the Punjab Kings at Mumbai WS in 2014, followed by a dominant 90/0 against the Mumbai Indians at the same venue in 2015.

In more recent seasons, CSK continued this trend with a blistering 79/0 against Lucknow Super Giants in Chennai (2023) and 77/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru (2026). These starts reflect a shift in approach, where aggressive intent at the top has become central to their batting strategy.

Interestingly, three of these four high-scoring powerplays came while chasing, highlighting CSK's confidence in going hard upfront during run pursuits. Rather than pacing the innings conservatively, they have often opted to attack early, putting opposition bowlers under pressure and setting up strong platforms for the middle order to capitalise.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a batting masterclass to post a massive 250/3 against Chennai Super Kings at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, with a late onslaught completely shifting the momentum of the contest.

RCB began on a solid note in the powerplay, as Devdutt Padikkal (50 off 29) and Phil Salt (21 off 16) stitched together a steady opening stand of 48 runs before Salt was dismissed by Jamie Overton.

The middle phase saw Virat Kohli looking in good touch during his 28 off 18 balls, but he fell while trying to accelerate against Anshul Kamboj. At 134/3 in the 14th over, the contest was evenly balanced.

However, the game took a decisive turn in the final overs as Tim David and skipper Rajat Patidar unleashed a brutal assault on the CSK bowling attack. David smashed an unbeaten 70 off just 25 deliveries, including eight sixes, while Patidar remained not out on 48 off 19 balls. The duo stitched an unbroken 116-run partnership for the fourth wicket, dismantling the opposition's death bowling.

RCB's late surge saw them hammer 97 runs in the last five overs, marking the most expensive death-overs phase conceded by CSK in their history.

Among the bowlers, Kamboj (1/42) and Overton (1/45) were the only frontline options to claim wickets, while Shivam Dube chipped in with 1/14 in his solitary over, but the attack largely struggled to contain the onslaught.
