RCB vs CSK IPL 2025: Why was Dewald Brevis denied a DRS by Umpires?
In the IPL 2025 match between RCB and CSK, Dewald Brevis was denied a DRS call by the umpires.
Dewald Brevis faced Lungi Ngidi and in the very first ball, the player was given Leg Before Wicket by the umpires.

Brevis completed the run despite being given Out, and after that, he asked for a review. But as the CSK player demanded to go upstairs, the on-field umpires denied him a review. Ravindra Jadeja also had a talk with the Umpire, but despite the discussion, the umpire sent the CSK back to the pavilion.
The commentators were in discussion about the potential decision, and the replay showed the delivery was clearly missing the stumps, which means, had CSK gone upstairs, the decision would have tilted in their favour.
RCB vs CSK: Why was Dewald Brevis denied a DRS Review?
Chennai Super Kings batter Dewald Brevis was denied a review because he was out of time. Generally, after making a decision onthe field, there is a 15-second window for either the batting or the fielding team to go upstairs and challenge the decision. In these 15 seconfs, a fielding team's captain or the batter will have to signal that they want to challenge the decision, and then only the umpire sends it to the TV Umpire for further investigation.
In this case, Brevis was busy running and when he decided to take the review, it was already passed the stipulated 15-second time, which meant the umpire couldn't have given him the extra leeway. And that is how CSK lost their chance to go for a DRS call in the match, much to the delight of the home fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
