Unbeaten Delhi Capitals (DC) will be eager to have overseas star Faf Du Plessis back for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday (April 10).
The former RCB and South African captain Du Plessis missed DC's previous outing against Chennai Super Kings due to an undisclosed injury, which was later revealed to be a groin issue.

DC managed to beat CSK despite Du Plessis' absence, but will receive a major boost if they could get the in-form Protae back to face his former side in a familiar territory. Just before missing the clash against CSK, Du Plessis had scored a match-winning knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The 40-year-old scored a quickfire 50 against SRH at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The 27-ball fifty followed a knock of 29 from 18 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in DC's season opener also at the Vizag venue.
While he has scored 79 runs in 2 innings this season, Du Plessis also has a good record at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he played during his stint with RCB from 2022 to 2024 and with CSK in seasons before he moved to the Bengaluru-based side.
In 17 innings at Bengaluru's home ground, Du Plessis has scored 651 runs, including 8 fifties at a strike rate of 161.94. Overall, the former South African cricketer has amassed 4650 runs, including 38 fifties in 140 innings, at a strike rate of 136.89.
His form and record will be a tempting option for DC. But will the former Proteas skipper be available for today's clash against RCB in Bengaluru? Here is the lastest on Faf Du Plessis fitness ahead of RCB vs DC:
Faf Du Plessis injury update: The South African, who had a groin niggle and missed DC's last match, is likely to be fit and ready for the clash against RCB on Thursday (April 10) as per the latest update from assistant coach Matthew Mott.
"The beauty of the schedule so far for us is we've had some really good breaks and he's now had a good break. I think he'll get assessed today by the physios with a view to playing," DC assistant coach Mott said on the eve of the match.
"He certainly looks like he's moving around a lot better from the naked eye without having a good look at him. So, if he's available or not I think we can adapt, given the depth we have in our team."
KL Rahul, who was promoted up the order to fill Du Plessis' void, impressed with a 77 against CSK, making it a tough choice for DC in picking their playing 11 for the game against RCB. It would be interesting to see if the Capitals retain Rahul at the top of the order or who they will drop in favour of Du Plessis.
DC could just bring in Du Plessis as direct replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has failed to fire so far this season. But they could persist with the Australian opener and leave out Sameer Rizvi to bring in the South African into the eleven.
If Fraser-McGurk, Rahul an Du Plessis all feature in the line up, it is very likely that Rahul will drop down the order to number three or four. Du Plessis can come into the side at the expense of Rizvi as DC played only three overseas players in their 25-run victory over CSK on Saturday (April 5).
