RCB vs GT, IPL 2023 Match 70: M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru Pitch Report and Weather Forecast

Royal Challengers Bangalore host Gujarat Titans in match 70 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on double-header Sunday (May 21) with the match set to start at 7:30 PM IST.

Faf Du Plessis' RCB head into the match on the back of their seventh win of this season, while GT led by Hardik Pandya are fresh from their ninth win of the campaign. RCB has won 7 of 13, while GT has won 9 of 13 matches so far.

Now, the two sides will clash for the first time at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which will host it's seventh and final match of the season. RCB have lost three and won three at their home venue so far.

RCB opened their home campaign with an 8-wicket win over Mumbai Indians, but lost to Lucknow Super Giants by 1 wicket in the second fixture before beating Delhi Capitals by 23 runs in the third match.

In the next three fixtures, RCB first lost to Chennai Super Kings by 8 runs, but bounced back with a 7-run win over Rajasthan Royals before a 21-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in their most recent fixture at home.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium Pitch Report

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium has been known to be batting friendly, but has provided a little assistance for new ball bowlers this season. However, all the matches except for the lone noon match so far has seen sixes rain in Bengaluru.

The average score batting first in IPL at the venue is 165. The IPL record at the venue shows that teams batting second have had the most success so far. But this season, the team defending has won most.

In IPL 2023, team chasing has won four times and team batting first has won twice. The first two night matches ended in favour of the chasing team, while the two noon matches and the remaining two night matches have seen the team defend come out on top.

RCB chased down a target of 172 set by MI with 22 balls to spare, while LSG pulled off highest run chase at the venue of 213 run against RCB in the last-ball finish. RCB then defended a total of 174 against DC. But failed to chase down a target of 227 set by CSK.

In the fifth match, RCB defended a total of 189 by a small margin against RR, but the hosts failed to chase down a score of 201 against KKR, falling short of the target by 21 runs in the sixth and most recent match at home.
