In the ongoing IPL 2025 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Ishant Sharma made a significant impact by dismissing RCB's captain Rajat Patidar.
After being welcomed with a boundary by Patidar, Ishant quickly adjusted his length, delivering a cross-seam ball that trapped Patidar leg-before-wicket (LBW). Patidar chose not to review the decision, resulting in RCB losing their fourth wicket.

Ishant, a veteran to the game, is one of the two survivors from the very first match of IPL back in 2008. Ishant used to play for Kolkata Knight Riders at that time and his counterpart Virat Kohli also played for RCB, as he continues to do so even now.
After dismissing Rajat Patidar in the very first over of his spell, Ishant Sharma has etched his name to an amazing IPL record. Back in 2008, in the very first match of the IPL, Ishant also took the wicket of then RCB captain as he knocked over Rahul Dravid in the very first ball of his spell.
This time around, he got treated by a boundary in the first ball and then came back roaring to get Rajat Patidar's wicket in the second delivery. With that, the lanky pacer is the only player in history to have achieved this rare feat of taking wickets of two captains of the same franchise 18 years apart.
Rahul Dravid was his first scalp in his KKR career and it came in the very first delivery of his first match for the Knight Riders. In case of Rajat Patidar, Ishant dismissed the current RCB captain on the second ball of his second match, which happens to be also his maiden wicket for current franchise, Gujarat Titans.
GT acquired him for INR 75 lakh at the 2025 IPL Auction. With over 400 international wickets and a rich IPL history, Ishant's experience is proving vital for GT's bowling attack.
