RCB vs GT Match Report, IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans cruised to a commanding eight-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their IPL 2025 clash at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, thanks to a fiery spell from Mohammed Siraj and a masterful knock by Jos Buttler.
RCB, after being put in to bat, struggled to build momentum and could only manage 169/8 in their 20 overs. Liam Livingstone's fighting 54 and late contributions from Jitesh Sharma and Tim David gave them a respectable total, but it was far from enough against a well-balanced Gujarat side.

Siraj, playing against his former team, was the wrecker-in-chief, rattling the RCB top order with figures of 3-19. Chasing 170, Gujarat's batters showcased their class, with Buttler leading the charge with a blistering unbeaten 73 off 39 balls. He was well supported by Sai Sudharsan (49), who anchored the innings in the middle overs before Sherfane Rutherford (30) applied the finishing touches.
Despite early movement with the new ball, GT paced their chase perfectly, ensuring there were no hiccups. With this win, GT bounced back strongly from their season-opening defeat, while RCB's struggles at home continued, raising concerns about their ability to defend their fortress.

GT Innings: 170/2 (17.5 overs)

Livingstone's Lone Battle as RCB Falter Early
After being put into bat, RCB's innings never quite took off. Virat Kohli, their talisman, fell early, chipping a delivery from Arshad Khan to Prasidh Krishna at short fine leg for just 7. His dismissal in the second over left the Bengaluru crowd stunned, and the pressure mounted as Devdutt Padikkal (4) soon followed, cleaned up by Mohammed Siraj.
Phil Salt (14 off 13) showed some intent but was undone by Siraj's clever change of pace, spooning a catch to mid-on. RCB found themselves reeling at 35-3 inside five overs. Captain Rajat Patidar (12 off 12) also failed to make an impact, trapped leg-before by Ishant Sharma.
With RCB in dire straits at 42-4, Liam Livingstone took matters into his own hands. The Englishman launched a stunning counterattack, smashing 54 off 40 balls, including five sixes and four boundaries. He particularly targeted Rashid Khan, dispatching him for some lusty blows down the ground. "I just tried to back my strengths and keep the scoreboard moving," Livingstone said after his knock. However, his departure in the 19th over, caught by Jos Buttler off Siraj, ended any hopes of a late flourish.
Jitesh Sharma (33 off 21) played a useful cameo, but Sai Kishore's tight spell (2-22 in four overs) ensured that RCB never really accelerated. Tim David's 32 off 18 gave them a respectable finish, but 169-8 was always going to be below par.
Buttler, Sudharsan Make Short Work of the Chase
Chasing 170, GT started steadily with captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan at the crease. Gill looked fluent early on, caressing two glorious boundaries, but he perished for 14, miscuing a shot to Livingstone off Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
That brought Jos Buttler to the middle, and from the outset, he looked in ominous touch. The Englishman took his time to settle before launching an all-out assault. RCB's bowlers had no answers as Buttler unfurled his trademark array of strokes-inside-out lofts, audacious scoops, and flat-batted smashes. His fifty came off just 28 balls, and by then, GT were firmly in control.
Sai Sudharsan played a perfect supporting role, compiling a steady 49 off 36 before falling to Josh Hazlewood. But by that point, the result was inevitable.
Sherfane Rutherford (30* off 18) added the finishing touches with some powerful hitting, ensuring that GT cruised home with 13 balls to spare.
