RCB vs KKR, IPL 2024: Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir Meet Again! What are Fans Saying ahead of the Clash?

The entire country anticipates witnessing a duel ahead of the upcoming IPL 2024 match as Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders are set to take on each other on Friday (March 29).

The two teams, who started the IPL extravaganza back in 2008, will lock horns at the M Chinnaswamy, but there is another narrative which is running parallel with the match, that is the 'Reunion' of Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir

Two flamboyant Indian stars, one from the past, will be coming in close proximity again at the Garden City, at about a year after their notorious spat in Lucknow.

The world saw what transpired between RCB star Virat Kohli and then Lucknow Super Giants' mentor Gautam Gambhir last year. An on-field issue between Virat Kohli and a few LSG players turned ugly as Gautam Gambhir came forward to take the side of his players. The duo were involved in a heated conversation and needed to be separated by others.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli both are intense competitors. Since that incident, things have changed a lot. Gambhir is not part of the LSG think tank anymore, as he has now returned to his 'home' at the Kolkata Knight Riders.

But we have seen Gambhir and Kohli at loggerheads during the former's playing days, as the duo clashed at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in 2011. As KKR take on RCB on Friday, can any of the past spats transpire?

Both KKR and RCB Fans believe Kohli-Gambhir Have 'Moved On'

MyKhel asked a bunch of RCB and KKR fans in that regard and got a mixed response. Around 30 per cent of the KKR fans think the Knight Riders mentor and the Bengaluru player can have some moments but the majority believe they will behave this time. On the other hand, 77 per cent of the RCB fans think Kohli will refrain from any of his past antics as winning IPL is their main motto this year.

"No, I don't think so at all. Both Kohli and Gambhir must have moved on and Gauti made that clear during World Cup 2023. I believe it will be a good match and the duo will shake their hands and have a smile," Sharanya Roy, a KKR fan and a student told MyKhel.

"I think the heated stuff doesn't help anyone. But if things escalate, Gambhir won't mind having a go again at Kohli as he did last time. But at the end of the day, it just doesn't bear any positive outcome," Raj Thakur, an RCB fan living in Kolkata, expressed.

On the other hand, Biswajit Besra, a KKR fan from Purulia believes the duo can clash again.

"The issue between Gambhir and Kohli will never be resolved. They have been at odds many times and we all know what happened last year. So don't be surprised if anything similar happens today as well. It will be a massive match and as a KKR fan, I want my team to win at any cost," an excited Biswajit said.

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are two icons of Indian cricket. Virat has a gigantic batting record and is a connoisseur of his batting prowess, while Gambhir has provided India with two superb knocks in two World Cup-winning Finals. It is quite normal to lose composure in intense situations, but hopefully, both have learned from their mistakes.
