RCB has won one and lost one of their two matches so far this season to sit in the seventh spot. Before their defeat in Kolkata, the Royal Challengers had beaten Mumbai Indians at home.

LSG, on the other hand, has won two of their home matches and suffered a narrow loss in their only away match to occupy the third spot on the points table. LSG's wins came against SRH and Delhi Capitals, while their only loss came to Chennai Super Kings.

RCB and LSG will now meet only for the third time in the IPL. In IPL 2022 when LSG made their debut, RCB registered two wins over them. One of the wins came in the league stage and the other in the Eliminator.
