Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered another defeat as they were beaten at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024 on Tuesday (April 2) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Virat Kohli's team thus suffered their second consecutive loss at home as LSG registered a thumping victory by 32 runs.

RCB won the Toss and chose to bowl first. Lucknow Super Giants lost KL Rahul early but Quinton de Kock scored a brilliant 81 off just 57 balls. Nicholas Pooran went for a late blitzkrieg as LSG finished at 181 for 5 at the end of their full quota of overs.
RCB made a good start but Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis departed within the powerplay. But then it was Mayank Yadav's magic which rattled the RCB batting and put Lucknow in the driver's seat. Mahipal Lomror fought hard and created a glimmer of hope but it was too much for the tail as RCB were bowled out for 153 runs.

Faf du Plessis (RCB Captain): Faf du Plessis said dropping the catches of Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran were the biggest cause of their defeat.
"It's a new action which you haven't faced before. It is really impressive to see his pace but more impressive was to control length and bowl with accuracy," Du Plessis said on Mayank Yadav.
"I don't think we bowled well tonight, especially in the powerplay. We gave away too many easy boundaries. You need two guys to bat through and get a partnership which we were not able to do. We need the strong characters in the dressing room to put their hand up," Du Plessis concluded.
KL Rahul (LSG Captain): "Overall a really good performance. the wicket was a bit tricky and there was some help for the seamers. Quinton got us off to a good start. We were 10-15 runs ahead of what we needed to be. One ball hit me really hard, so happy to see Mayank bowl the way he's been bowling. He's waited patiently for a year, he's working really hard, he's really professional, has a great temperament. Bowling first has been the trend in T20 cricket. If I have a look at our record, it speaks differently. The good thing I am doing is losing the toss. This is how we play our cricket. Powerplay bowling has always been a question mark, trying to fix that. We've gone spin this game, very obvious match-up against RCB which worked. We'll try find ways to get wickets in the powerplay."
Mayank Yadav (POTM): "I feel very good that I've got two player of the match award but feel better that we have won two matches. My aim is to serve the country for many years. It is just a start and I want to focus on my main goal. I liked the Cameron Green wicket. I think to bowl at speed, we need like diet, gym and training and you have to be perfect at everything. I have a massive focus on diet and recovery training as well. That is the thing that is helping at the moment."
