RCB vs LSG IPL 2024: De Kock, Mayank script LSG victory as Kohli's RCB Falter at Home Again

By MyKhel Staff

Lucknow Super Giants clinched a convincing 28-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a crucial IPL 2024 match on Tuesday (April 2).

Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered their third defeat of the season and remain 9th in the table while LSG took a big leap to 4th after getting their second consecutive victory.

RCB vs LSG IPL 2024

LSG were driven by stellar performances from Quinton de Kock and Mayank Yadav, who played pivotal roles in their team's win. De Kock's impressive 81 off 56 balls, combined with Yadav's exceptional bowling figures of 3 for 14, steered Lucknow to a formidable position.

Lucknow's innings was bolstered by Nicholas Pooran's explosive unbeaten 40 off 21 balls, setting RCB a challenging target of 182. Despite a brief display of resilience from RCB's Mahipal Lomror, who scored 33 off 13 balls, the team struggled to maintain momentum. Lucknow's strategic move to open the bowling with spinners Manimaran Siddharth and Krunal Pandya initially surprised RCB's top order, including Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli.

RCB's chase was derailed by critical wickets and a middle-order collapse, finding themselves at 58 for four in the eighth over. Mayank Yadav's speed and accuracy proved too much for RCB's batsmen as both Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell fell after getting beaten by his pace. The quick dismissal of Rajat Patidar further diminished RCB's chances of reaching the target.

On the other end, De Kock's batting was a spectacle, with the South African exhibiting control and power across the ground. His partnership with Marcus Stoinis added a vital 56 runs for the third wicket, propelling the team's score. Nicholas Pooran's late onslaught, including five sixes in the last two overs, took LSG over the 180-mark.

RCB find themselves in deep trouble after the defeat and will face Rajasthan Royals in the next match on April 6. Lucknow Super Giants will take on Gujarat Titans in their next encounter on April 7.
