RCB vs MI: Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma on Sunday set the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on fire by scoring 84 unbeaten runs off just 47 deliveries against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The 20-year-old smashed nine fours and four sixes which included one helicopter shot on the last ball to propel Mumbai Indians to 171/7.
The southpaw walked in the middle with Mumbai Indians reeling at 20 for three in 5.2 overs. He forged a 28-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav who departed in the ninth over after scoring 15 runs off 16 balls. Once Suryakumar departed, Tilak took the onus to lift Mumbai on him.

The Hyderabad-born batter did not even flinch once in front of a world class RCB bowling unit consisting of the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Harshal Patel and Glenn Maxwell. To help the five-time champions finish their innings on a high, Tilkar scored two boundaries of Siraj in the penultimate over before hitting a four and a six in the final over from Harshal.
Tilak only made his IPL debut last year and impressed in his debut season by scoring 397 runs from 14 innings. Overall, he was the second-highest run-scorer for Mumbai after Ishan Kishan (418) in the IPL 2022 season.
"I was thinking that he (Siraj) can bowl wide yorkers. He was under pressure. I was just backing myself to punish him if he missed, so he was under pressure there," Siraj told Ravi Shastri during the mid-innings when asked about his plans against Siraj.
Here's how fans on Twitter have reacted to the whirlwind innings from Tilak.
