In the sixth match of IPL 2024 Royal Challengers Bengaluru will welcome Punjab Kings at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday (March 25). It will be the second match for both of them this season. In their first matches, PBKS emerged victorious over Delhi Capitals while RCB failed to do the same against CSK.
These two franchises met each other 31 times and PBKS got the edge as they won 17 times while RCB managed to win on 14 occasions. The last time they faced each other RCB defeated PBKS by 24 runs.

Historically RCB remained a batter-heavy team. Their star-studded batting line-ups had failed to be complemented by the bowling squads on many occasions in the past. Though RCB bowling unit have some big names in their pace-battery they are lacking well-seasoned and specialist bowlers in the spin department. Mohammed Siraj and Lockie Ferguson will spearhead the Challengers pace unit in this season while Karn Sharma and Glenn Maxwell will be expected to be their go-through spinners.
In this edition of IPL the Punjab bowling unit is quite fast bowler-heavy. The squad is seriously lacking the presence of experienced spinners. They will be mainly relied upon Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Sam Curran, Rahul Chahar, Harshal Patel and Harpreet Brar. Besides these players, the Punjab side has to choose from tough players like Nathan Ellis, Vidwath Kaverappa, Tanay Thyagarajan and others.
Mohammed Siraj: The 30-year-old Indian fast bowler was the highest wicket-taker for RCB in IPL 2023 with 19 wickets in 14 matches with an impressive economy rate of 7.52. Though in the first match of IPL 2024, he failed to get any wicket it can be expected that he can amend this in the match against PBKS.
Alzarri Joseph: The 28-year-old West-Indian fast bowler has very little exposure in the IPL. But in this short span, his decent display of the sport will make RCB hopeful. As the RCB bowling squad lacks experienced bowlers, it can be a golden opportunity for Joseph to fill the void and become a saviour for the team.
Arshdeep Singh: The 24-year-old fast bowler remained one of the consistent and best-performing bowlers for the Kings across the seasons. He took 57 wickets in his IPL career. In the last IPL, he bagged 17 wickets which made him the highest wicket-taker for PBKS. His wicket-hunting is expected to be continued in this match also.
Kagiso Rabada: The South African fast bowler did not play much in the last IPL but this season he is back to help PBKS with his experiences in IPL and International cricket. Rabada has a brilliant statistic of getting 107 wickets in the IPL by playing only 70 matches. He is expected to spearhead the Punjab bowling attacks along with Arshdeep Singh.
In a batting heaven like M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, we shouldn't expect much from the bowlers. Yet both teams are expected to give a fierce fight to remain one step ahead in the journey to the playoffs.
