Royal Challengers Bangalore women injury update, team news
No injury news is out from Royal Challengers Bangalore camp yet but the Smriti Mandhana-led side is fast becoming the bogey team this WPL.
Smriti Mandhana and Ellyse Perry yet to fire big
A player of Mandhana's caliber was expected to rule the WPL now but the opener has failed to capitalise on every good start so far. In her three innings so far she scored 18, 23 and 35.
Similar expectations were of Australian star Ellyse Perry, who has contributed 32, 13, 31 so far batting at No. 3. The 32-year-old all-rounder hasn't delivered the goods with the ball too as her maiden wicket in the tournament is awaited.
Opener Sophie Devine got her tournament rolling with a 45-ball 66 in the last game after disappointing with average shows in the first two games.
Richa Ghosh's bat remains silent
The team's another Indian star Richa Ghosh continued to fire blanks after World Cup exploits as she scored just 10 in the last game for a losing cause and has 40 runs to her name in three innings.
English captain Heather Knight has been more valuable to the team in that sense. Batting at No. 6, she scored 30 or more in two innings and picked four wickets in her two spells in the tournament so far.
The 32-year-old English all-rounder, however, couldn't get the team over the line in a high-scoring chase against Gujarat Giants.
Shreyanka Patil emerge as surprise package
RCB also have further firepower down the order in Kanika Ahuja, Shreyanka Patil and Megan Schutt. Patil, in particular, impressed as she didn't just show her ability to play big shots when needed but also picked big wickets with her spin.
The youngster also showed that she can bowl yorkers in the death overs. However, the story of the rest of the RCB bowling, barring Heather Knight, leaves a lot to be desired.
RCB star pacers ineffective on flat tracks
Megan Schutt has scored runs with the bat at No. 9 to show further depth in the team. However, the Australian pacer has not really won hearts with her bowling with just a wicket in three games.
The problem is persistent in RCB pace bowling with Renuka Singh also proving to be easy prey for batters on the flat tracks of Mumbai while not doing justice to their hefty price tags.
Left-arm off-spinner Preeti Bose has further weakened the bowling by leaking runs for just one scalp.
Will RCB play Van Niekerk, Erin Burns?
With the bowling combinations and middle-order not working, Dane van Niekerk or Erin Burns may get a look into the batting order with their spin-bowling ability.

UP Warriorz women injury update, team news
UP Warriorz were forced to make a squad change as spin all-rounder Shivali Shinde replaced wicketkeeper-batter Laxmi Yadav, who is out for the season with an injury.
Pressure on skipper Alyssa Healy to drop herself for Grace Harris
Australian captain Alyssa Healy, who came to WPL scoring two half-centuries at the World Cup, must be feeling the heat after she couldn't make a significant contribution following a big decision to drop last-match star Grace Harris from the team to play an overseas pacer in Shabnim Ismail, who put in a good shift with 1/29 spell.
Other overseas players in Sophie Ecclestone (three wickets in two games) and Tahlia McGrath (90* in the last game) are undroppable because of their recent show.
This only means there's pressure on Healy to drop herself and make room for Grace Harris, who scored 59* off 26 against Gujarat Giants to seal UP's maiden win in the tournament.
Teenage Shweta Sehrawat yet to click
UP's top-order worries are not just limited to Healy as Shweta Sehrawat has scored just six runs over two innings as she struggles to adjust to the quality of the senior cricket after her U-19 T20 World Cup exploits.
Kiran Navgire, who lost her place in the Indian team last year due to inconsistency, scored just two in the last game when expectations were high of her to emulate her half century from the first match and push the side's chances of winning the game.
Among other key players in the team, vice-captain Deepti Sharma had a bad day with the ball (0/40) after taking two wickets in the first games. Indian spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad was ordinary in the match as well but did take the big wicket of Meg Lanning to prove her importance.
Leg-spinner Devika Vaidya wasn't entrusted with bowling in the last game and scored a quick 23 while Simran Shaikh bats lower down the order with the task of clobbering the ball.
