Return with your head held high Mahi, the little angel is waiting

By Shubham

Dear Dhoni, first of all thanks for the entertainment that your men in blue provided since February 15 when the arch-rivals were floored at a picturesque Adelaide Oval. It was the beginning of a dream run and it united the country like never before for 39 days till the semifinal at the SCG yesterday.

Blasting Team India: Dear Arnab Goswami, you are a pathetic pseudo-patriot

MS Dhoni's full speech after India's exit from WC

A team, which did not win a single match in a gruelling tour of Australia just prior to the mega event, just forgot to lose when the test of defending the title won four years ago came. The turnaround, no less than a miracle, brought back the self-confidence that Indians generally miss. Cricket, a religion in this country that lost its god a few years ago, was proved again to be India's biggest medium to assert itself before the world.

And none other than you, MSD, who we feel is the best finisher in the era of one-day and T20 cricket, was in charge of the turnaround. You made us proud, really proud.

It was though sad to see how a section of the country's media started blasting your team after you lost to Australia on their own ground. The feat of winning seven matches in a row was forgotten in no time.

You are really unfortunate to lead a team of such a country where people don't even have the minimum sense of responsibility. One should apologise for such behaviour. However, life goes on and you will be remembered by history as India's most successful captain who have given the country every big trophy. One semi-final loss? Forget it Mahi, it doesn't even matter.

Return with your head held high champion. You have a new member in your family who is waiting to see her father for nearly two months now. Cricket and World Cup don't really matter for the little angel and she needs her dad's warmth the most. We are proud that you didn't go back to see Ziva after her birth and said you were on a national duty. This is how a captain leads by example.

Those who are talking non-sense on how Kohli should have batted or where Anushka Sharma should have sat in the stadium, learn from this. You deserve more education.

World Cups will come and go but life matters more than anything. The other day, AB de Villiers was consoled by his own countrymen after South Africa failed to break the semifinal jinx yet again. It was a tremendous gesture that could extend the smashing bat's career by another few years. Such was the warmth and love.

You deserve the same. And we love you for what you have given us.

All the best to you, your family and your team.

God bless,
