Richard Madley to conduct IPL auction

Kolkata, Feb 16 (UNI) DLF Indian Premier League today announced the appointment of Richard Madley, one of the leading auctioneers from UK, to conduct the first ever auction in Mumbai on February 20 of cricket players for the inaugural edition of the league.

Richard Madley, a second generation auctioneer who started his career with Phillips Auctioneers in London, has over 30 years of international experience. His interest in cricket memorabilia led him to auction a cricket bat as well as overseeing the sale of the famous Brian Johnston Collection, an official release from the auctioneer's end said.

Now a director of Dreweatts - the UK's largest regional auction house, actively conducts sales of paintings, works of art and sporting items across the globe. He is on his first visit to India to conduct the largest auction of world cricketing stars.

Mr Lalit Modi, Chairman and Commissioner, DLF-IPL expressed great satisfaction on the appointment of one of the finest auctioneers for the historic auction of the world's best cricketing stars.

''I hope this event would be a memorable one for all our franchises which are associated with the mega event,'' Modi said.
