Ricky Ponting names three players who have impressed him in World Cup 2023 - And there is no Indian in the List!

Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has named three players who have impressed him the most in World Cup 2023, and there are no Indian players in the list.

The World Cup 2023 has seen some excellent performances thus far. Players have impressed and have scored a lot of runs, while bowlers have also showcased their prowess in picking up wickets.

India are currently on top of the World Cup standings. The hosts have so far won all of their group-stage matches and have qualified for the semifinals.

But there is no Indian in Ricky Ponting's impressive list in the World Cup. The former Australia captain has revealed Australia leg spinner Adam Zampa and South African duo Marco Jansen and Quinton de Kock as the players who have impressed him the most in this World Cup.

"It's very hard to go past Adam Zampa, the leading wicket-taker in the tournament. He played the first two games and took no wickets and he has bounced back now sits up top with 18 or 19 wickets. He has been outstanding," Ponting said.

The Australian leg-spinner has been impressive so far in this World Cup. He has picked up 19 wickets in seven matches, and currently leading the pack.

South Africa batter Quinton de Kock is the next in Ponting's list. The southpaw is retiring from ODIs after World Cup, but he has been in terrific form in the tournament so far. De Kock has already amassed 545 runs in seven matches, and has racked up 4 centuries.

Quinton de Kock has four hundreds in this World Cup and it's probably his last World Cup. It's very hard to go past him as he has led a very strong South African batting brigade," Ponting added.

His final pick is another South African, Marco Jansen. The lanky all-rounder has been a revelation for South Africa and has picked up 16 wickets thus far. He has also scored 143 runs in the tournament.

"The last one, I'm actually going for another South African in Marco Jansen. What he has been able to provide South Africa with the new ball taking wickets upfront, setting up their bowling innings with Powerplay wickets and also contributing with some handy low order runs," Ponting concluded.
