India's T20 and IPL superstar Rinku Singh took a major step in his personal life on June 8, getting engaged to Priya Saroj, the newly elected Samajwadi Party MP from Machhlishahr, Uttar Pradesh.

The ceremony was held in grand style at Hotel Centrum, a five-star venue in Lucknow, amid the presence of family members, political leaders, and cricketing icons.

Rinku, who rose to instant fame after smashing five consecutive sixes off Gujarat Titans' Yash Dayal during IPL 2023, has become one of Indian cricket's most loved stories. His remarkable journey from a lower-middle-class household in Aligarh to donning India's colors in ODIs and T20Is is one of grit, determination, and sheer talent.

The engagement ceremony was nothing short of spectacular. The couple participated in a pre-engagement shoot before stepping onto the stage - Rinku looking regal in a white sherwani, and Priya stunning in a light pink lehenga as per a report by Jagran.

The couple exchanged designer rings - Rinku's picked specially from Mumbai, while Priya's was custom-made in Kolkata. Their rings reportedly cost over ₹2.5 lakh.

Rinku's outfit was designed by a renowned Mumbai-based fashion designer, while his family ensured that traditional jewellery and sarees were presented to Priya as part of the ceremony. Guests from both the political and cricketing circles attended the celebration, reflecting the stature and popularity of the couple.

Priya Saroj, who made headlines by becoming Uttar Pradesh's youngest Member of Parliament at the age of 25, is a Supreme Court lawyer by profession and daughter of senior SP leader and MLA Toofani Saroj. She was born on November 23, 1998, in Varanasi and in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, she defeated BJP's BP Saroj by a margin of 35,850 votes.

Their relationship began in 2023, and it blossomed quietly before culminating in this public celebration of commitment. Priya's father invited over 300 high-profile guests, including Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Jaya Bachchan, MPs Pushpendra Saroj, Ikra Hasan, and Union Minister Kamlesh Paswan, the report added.

From Rinku's cricketing circle, notable attendees included former Indian cricketers Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla, and UP Ranji captain Aryan Juyal, showcasing the love and respect Rinku commands among his peers.

On the field, Rinku Singh continues to impress with both form and temperament. In international cricket, he has scored 55 runs in ODIs at an average of 27 and 546 runs in T20Is at a superb average of 42. But it was that historic IPL 2023 match on April 9 - where he scored 29 runs in the last over - that truly catapulted him to stardom.
