Rinku Singh Reveals Secret Behind 100-Meter Six In India vs Australia 4th T20I

By MyKhel Staff

Indian batter Rinku Singh has revealed the secret behind his massive 100-meter six during the India vs Australia 4th T20I on Friday (December 1) at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh (SVNS) International Stadium in Raipur.

The Uttar Pradesh batter, who broke into the national side following impressive displays in Indian Premier League with Kolkata Knight Riders, has carried his calmness and finishing ability to international cricket.

Rinku Singh smashed the biggest six of India vs Australia 2023 T20I series

The southpaw attributes his power to working out and eating healthy, but he also has some natural power. Rinku smashed 46 off 29 balls as Team India beat Australia by 20 runs to clinch the five-match series 3-1.

In his knock, Rinku hit 4 fours and 2 sixes. One of the maximums came in the 13th over of the innings and was enormous as he charged down the pitch and fired seamer Ben Dwarshuis for a 100-meter six.

Rinku was asked how he created so much power to hit such a tremendous six off Dwarshuis' bowling in a post-match interview with teammate Jitesh Sharma, who also smashed 3 maximums during the match.

"You know it that I gym with you, eat well. I like lifting weights too, so there is natural power inside me," Rinku told Jitesh Sharma in a video posted by the BCCI.tv.

Longest Sixes in India vs Australia 2023 T20I series

  • Rinku Singh (India) - 100m
  • Ishan Kishan (India) - 95m
  • Mattew Wade (Australia) - 94m
  • Ishan Kishan (India) - 93m
  • Marcus Stoinis (Australia) - 92m

Rinku's second maximum of the match was also special as it was a switch hit for a six off the bowling of spinner Matthew Short in the 12th over of the game.

Despite his inexperience in international cricket, Rinku has looked in total command during his knocks so far, which have usually been in difficult situations. And the left-hander said he takes the confidence of having played in the IPL.

"It's tough (on dealing with strain). I have been playing for quite some time now and have been part of the IPL as well for the last 5-6 years. The confidence is there. I back myself and try to keep myself as calm as possible," he added.

Rinku and Jitesh Sharma (35 off 19 balls) added 56 for the fifth wicket to lift the Men in Blue from 111/4 in the 14th over to 167. Debutant Jitesh, who hit 35 off 19 balls, said he enjoyed batting in the middle with Rinku.

"[It's special] when you perform in front of Indian crowd and on Indian soil. The most enjoyable aspect was the partnership I had with you. I enjoyed it a lot," Jitesh said of his crucial knock.

Put into bat, India set a target of 175 for Australia, who in response, could only manage 154/7 in their allotted 20 overs as Axar Patel, the player of the match, starred with the ball for the home side.

Aussie skipper Matthew Wade (36 runs from 23 balls) was the only stand-out batter for the away side but still, he could not help his team to clinch a win in the game. Axar bagged three wickets and gave 16 runs. Deepak Chahar also picked up two wickets in the game.
