Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to step into a new role off the cricket field, as the Uttar Pradesh government prepares to appoint him as a District Basic Education Officer (BSA) under the International Medal Winners Direct Recruitment Rules-2022.
The move is part of the state's initiative to recognise athletes who have brought glory to the country by offering them significant roles in public service.

According to local reports, the Director of Basic Education has already issued a formal letter regarding his upcoming appointment. The initiative is in line with the state government's ongoing effort to reward international-level sportspersons with dignified government positions.
Rinku's journey is a powerful story of perseverance and achievement. Born on October 12, 1997, in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, he hails from modest beginnings. His father, employed as a gas cylinder deliveryman for Khanchandra Gas Agency, was once aided by a young Rinku before the latter's cricketing dreams took flight. His early talent was noticed when he made an impact at a school-level international cricket tournament held at the DPS ground.
His breakthrough moment arrived in the Indian Premier League (IPL), particularly in 2023, when he made headlines with a sensational season for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). That performance catapulted him into the national spotlight, eventually earning him a regular place in India's T20I squad. To date, Rinku has featured in two One-Day Internationals and 33 T20 Internationals for India. He remains a vital asset for KKR, contributing significantly to their title win in the 2024 IPL season.
In a recent personal development, Rinku got engaged to Priya Saroj, a Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party. Saroj, 26, represents the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur and is serving her first term in the Lok Sabha.
With his new role in the education sector and continued excellence on the cricket pitch, Rinku Singh continues to make strides both professionally and personally, serving as an inspiration to many.
