Rinku Singh to make India debut in Ireland, seven players to not play T20I cricket until World Cup 2023

Rinku Singh might not have been included in the India T20I squad for the West Indies series but he is all set to make his debut in August during the T20I series in Ireland.

A day after fans have slammed BCCI and the new chief selector Ajit Agarkar for not giving Rinku a chance to debut despite his splendid IPL 2023 campaign, reports have emerged that the 25-year-old from Aligarh will don the India blue in the 3-match T20I series in Ireland.

"Rinku and other players who did well in the IPL will fly to Ireland as the selection committee doesn’t want to try everyone at one stage," a BCCI source has told the Indian Express. The matches will be played on August 18, 20 and 23.

Further, the report has suggested that as many as seven India players will be kept away from T20I cricket keeping in mind the Asia Cup and the upcoming ODI World Cup in October-November.

"There are seven players of the Indian ODI team who are not going to play T20 as those players are key for us going ahead as they will be playing Asia Cup in late August," the Indian Express source added.

Reportedly, Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad did not get a place in the T20I squad for the West Indies series as the selectors want to try out the youngsters in a phased manner.

The Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel has also requested the BCCI to arrange more India A matches to test the fringe players before inducting them in the senior team.
