Rishabh Pant becomes first player to play 100 matches for Delhi Capitals: Check Top Five List

Rishabh Pant on Thursday (March 28) became first player to play 100 IPL matches for Delhi Capitals. He achieved the feat after taking the field against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The 26-year-old made his comeback to professional cricket after a 14-month injury lay-off due to a near-fatal car accident in December 2022. Ahead of the IPL 2024, the BCCI declared Rishabh Pant fit to play IPL 2024 as a wicketkeeper-batter.

In his comeback match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur, Pant scored 18 runs off 13 balls. Delhi Capitals lost the match by four wickets. Pant would be aiming to make his 100th match for Delhi Capitals memorable.

Amit Mishra is the only other player to have played more than 90 matches for Delhi Capitals. The veteran spinner, who is part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad currently, played 99 matches for Delhi. Former captain Shreyas Iyer played 87 matches for Delhi Capitals before moving to lead Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Pant made his IPL debut with Delhi Capitals back in 2016 after being bought for Rs 1.90 crore. The southpaw now gets Rs 16 crore per season, and has scored 2856 runs for the franchise at an average of 34.41 and a strike rate of 147.9.

Delhi Capitals are looking for their first win of the season and would be hoping for a win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) who hammered Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 20 runs in their first match.

Rishabh Pant is aiming for an impressive IPL 2024 season to grab the attention of the BCCI selectors for a place in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad. Pant would be competing against the likes of Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Jitesh Sharma and Ishan Kishan for a spot.
