Rishabh Pant IPL 2025 Earnings to Surpass Rs. 27 Crore Bid; Here’s How

By MyKhel Staff

Rishabh Pant has made history by becoming the highest-paid player in Indian Premier ppLeague (IPL) history, with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) securing him for a record-breaking Rs. 27 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

This marks a remarkable chapter in Pant's career, especially after his recovery from a near-fatal car accident in 2022 and subsequent return to international cricket. Pant's record-breaking auction saw a fierce bidding war.

With his previous franchise, Delhi Capitals, attempting to retain him by exercising the Right to Match (RTM) card at Rs. 20.75 crore. However, LSG's aggressive bid of Rs. 27 crore forced Delhi to bow out, making Pant the centerpiece of LSG's IPL 2025 campaign.

While Rs. 27 crore headlines his contract, Pant's earnings are set to surpass this figure due to a new initiative introduced by the IPL Governing Council. Starting IPL 2025, players will earn an additional match fee of Rs. 7.5 lakh per game.

If Pant plays all 14 league matches, he will add Rs. 1.05 crore to his earnings, bringing his total annual IPL income to Rs. 28.05 crore. Despite the impressive numbers, tax deductions will significantly impact Pant's earnings. The Indian government will deduct 30% in income tax.

Thus, amounting to Rs. 8.1 crore from his Rs. 27 crore salary. This means Pant will take home Rs. 18.9 crore annually. However, the match fees remain outside this calculation, pushing his effective annual earnings closer to Rs. 20 crore if he plays the entire season.

Pant is likely to don the captain's hat for LSG in IPL 2025, replacing Nicholas Pooran. The franchise also guarantees full payment in case of mid-tournament injuries. However, players who withdraw before the tournament or miss games for personal reasons are compensated on a prorated basis.

With the IPL set to begin on March 14, 2025, all eyes will be on Pant to lead LSG in their pursuit of the title. His record-breaking contract and added match fees reflect his immense value.
