Rishabh Pant hit 3 Times on Helmet, Abdomen and Fore-Arm in India A Match, Forced to Retire Hurt

Rishabh Pant sustained multiple blows during the India A vs South Africa A unofficial Test in Bengaluru, forcing him to retire hurt on Day 3.

He was hit three times in the morning session and then eventually walked off the field in the match at the Centre of Excellence ground.

The India star was first hit on the helmet by a bouncer from Tshepo Moreki, then on his left fore-arm while playing a pull shot, and finally a blow to the abdomen. Pant showed visible discomfort and pain, receiving medical attention, including physio strapping on his left wrist, before eventually walking off the field, retired hurt at a score of 17 off 22 balls. Pant hit 2 fours and 1 six in his knock which has been cut short due to those multiple blows.

This injury scare comes just days after Pant was named vice-captain for India's upcoming two-Test series against South Africa starting November 14 in Kolkata. While Pant initially attempted to continue batting despite the impacts, the team management and physios decided to take him off as a precautionary measure. There has been no official detailed update yet on the severity of Pant's injury, but this incident raises concerns ahead of the Test series.

India A are in a decent position against South Africa A

In the 2nd unofficial Test, India A find themselves in a decent position. At Lunch, they are 177 runs ahead of the visitors and Dhruv Jurel and Harsh Dubey are at the crease. Jurel scored a magnificent century in the first innings as India A posted 255 runs. In reply, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj picked up 7 wickets combined as the Proteas were bundled out for 221 runs. India A also won the first Test where Pant shone with a brilliant half-century.
