Rishabh Pant is poised to lead Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 season, according to reports.

The Indian Premier League auction is set to be held in December, and the IPL 2024 season starts within a few months. Amid the World Cup 2023 extravaganza, Delhi Capitals have silently started their camp in Kolkata.

And the presence of Rishabh Pant has created optimism about the player's potential return to the cricket field. Pant suffered a horrible accident last December, which has kept him out of action since.

The southpaw missed out the entirety of IPL 2023, the WTC Final, Asia Cup and now the World Cup as well. But the silver lining of his absence is that Pant has recovered fully and is raring to showcase his prowess to the world again.

There is a possibility that the southpaw will be available for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare knockout matches, and that has heightened with Pant's presence in Kolkata.

Delhi Capitals are said to be closely monitoring his progress and their director of cricket Sourav Ganguly and coach Ricky Ponting are more than happy with Pant's progression so far.

Although the player still has a way to go, it is being said that the Indian wicketkeeper will take part in practice matches in the Kolkata camp as he prepares to slowly mould himself back in the big stage.

David Warner led the Capitals in Pant's absence last season, but the result was not fruitful as they finished 9th in the tournament with just 5 wins in 14 matches.

There is still a long way to go for Rishabh Pant, but the initial signs are quite optimistic. Pant's injury is now more or less recovered, and the player will have to do the hard work of gaining full match fitness and getting back to the big stage.

He has been taking the right steps so far, and his involvement in the Delhi Capitals camp in Kolkata is another pivotal step in his road to recovery. And if the player gets himself back in shape, then there is no reason why he shouldn't captain Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL.
