A legal arrest warrant has been issued against ex-Indian cricketer and T20 Word Cup winner, Robin Uthappa over accusations of fraud linked to Employee Provident Fund (EPF) contributions.
He is alleged to have defaulted on ₹24 lakh in pending payments, prompting the legal action.

Uthappa faces allegations of withholding ₹23 lakh from employees' wages but not transferring their provident fund amounts. The accusations stem from his role as a manager at Century Lifestyle Brand Private Limited. This in turn is a serious breach of trust under Section 405 of the Indian Penal Code.
PF Regional Commissioner Shadakshari Gopal Reddy issued the warrant, directing the Pulakeshinagar police in Karnataka to act accordingly. He has instructed the local authorities to carry out the required measures.
"The warrant which was executed on December 4 has been returned after Mr. Uthappa was found not to be at the Pulakeshinagar residence," officials said.
"Due to non-remittance of dues, this office is unable to settle the Provident Fund (PF) accounts of poor workers. In view of the above, you are kindly requested to execute the enclosed warrant of arrest," it further added.
As of 2024, the 39-year-old's wealth is valued at around $13 million. His income comes from cricketing career earnings, sponsorship deals, social media ventures and various investments.
