Former India star and 2-time IPL winner, Robin Uthappa didn't mince his words against his former team Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and made a shocking revelation about the Bengaluru-based Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise.
The 39-year-old on the Faye D'Souza podcast revealed that he never felt any kind of loyalty with the franchise of his home city, instead he felt that his first-ever IPL team, Mumbai Indians were very close to him.

Uthappa admitted that his loyalty was always for Mumbai Indians and it was that period of time that the Indian cricketers for the very first time were introduced to the transfer culture, which is prevalent in the big football leagues of the world like the English Premier League.
''I didn't feel at any point that I belong to RCB. My loyalties all lied with Mumbai Indians. And for me, because that was the first time we Indians were playing professional cricket, we didn't know what moving from club to club was, we didn't know what transfers were outside of what we heard about the EPL'', he said.
He also revealed that despite of vesting his loyalty with MI, there was a time when the then Mumbai coach, Lalchand Rajput couldn't guarantee him a spot in the playing XI and then and there he realised that he had to leave.
"He said, if you don't leave, I cannot guarantee you'll play any match at all for Mumbai. And that's when I felt like okay, they don't want me at all," Uthappa further added.
Uthappa has featured in a total of 205 matches and amassed 4952 runs in 14 years in the cash-rich league. For Mumbai Indians, he played only one season in 2008 and notched up 320 runs in 14 matches. While for RCB, from 2009 to 2010, he played 31 matches and finished with 549 runs.
