Mohali, Nov 5: Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Stuart Binny have been released by the Indian Test team to play in the Ranji Trophy for their respective sides, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said today.

Rohit, Bhuvneshwar and Stuart were part of the 1st Test squad. However, they were not picked on Thursday to play against South Africa at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. India captain Virat Kohli and elected to bat first. The trio will rejoin the Test squad before the next match in Bengaluru (November 14). (Buy tickets for Bengaluru Test)
"Rohit Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Stuart Binny have been released from the Indian Test team, which is playing the 1st Test against South Africa in Mohali. They will join their respective state teams for the next round of Ranji Trophy matches. The players will rejoin the Indian Test team before the start of the Second Test of the Paytm Freedom Trophy in Bangalore," BCCI said in a media advisory.
"Punjab Ranji Trophy players, Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Mandeep Singh will assist the Indian Team as reserve players during the first Test Match at Mohali," it added.
The next round of Ranji Trophy matches start on November 7. Rohit and Bhuvneshwar will face off each other as Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh will play. Stuart will join his Karnataka team-mates in Mysuru to play against Odisha.
