India captain Rohit Sharma and BCCI secretary Jay Shah visited the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai with the T20 World Cup 2024 which the Men in Blue won by beating South Africa in the final in Barbados on June 29.
Rohit Sharma handed the silverware to the temple's priest, who conducted a small ceremony and gave pink-coloured stoles to Rohit and Shah. The T20 World Cup trophy was also placed in front of Lord Ganesha for a brief moment.

India endured an unbeaten campaign to win the T20 World Cup 2024, and end India's 13-year-old wait for a world cup title. They had almost lost the match as South Africa needed 30 runs from the last 30 deliveries with six wickets remaining.

Rohit Sharma recently played three ODI matches against Sri Lanka, and smashed fifties in the first two. The 37-year-old has opted to not play in the first-round matches of the Duleep Trophy 2024 which will see dozens of India starts feature for four teams - Team A, Team B, Team C and Team D.
Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah have also been rested ahead of the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh which starts from September 19.
