Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli playing their Final T20 World Cup for India? Ravi Shastri gives Verdict

An Indian cricket team, full of unknown and young names, conquered the inaugural World T20 stage back in 2007. But unfortunately, the road has remained unbreached since then.

As the latest brigade of the Indian team steps foot for yet another edition of the T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA, the far cry from the Indian netizens is united in one anticipation, which is to win the crown.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

After the World Cup 2023 heartbreak, which saw the Indian team biting the dust against Australia at home, the onus will be on Rohit Sharma and his troops to deliver this time.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma - these two have been the modern greats for India. Kohli with his plethora of records, Rohit with his amazing batting skills and numerous accolades, are miles away from anyone else in the summit spot. And as the pair take the field this year, the indomitable will has to be of coronation.

Rohit Sharma played the 2007 T20 World Cup and is the only Indian player to be a part of all nine editions of the tournament, but it is likely to be his last. For Virat Kohli, it is going to be the same as various reports have suggested that the Indian batting maestro may step aside from T20Is to make way for youngsters.

Echoing the same motion, former India coach Ravi Shastri believes that this edition of the T20 World Cup will be the swansong for both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In a recent talk with Star Sports, Shastri revealed that Kohli and Rohit both will be playing their final T20 World Cup in this edition and following this, they will be focusing only on ODIs and Tests.

"This is going to be the last T20I World CUp for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. After this tournament, they should focus on playing ODIs and Tests," Shastri said.

Virat Kohli is also set to open with Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup this year. Although Yashasvi Jaiswal is an option, the two premium batters of Indian name are likely to open the innings for the Men in Blue.
