IND vs BAN: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was expected to break the shackles and give the Tigers a run for their money in the ongoing Chepauk Test. However, that wasn't meant to be the case as failed to make an impression with the bat in both the innings of the Test match.
In the first innings, he fell prey to Hasan Mahmud's delivery in the first ball of the sixth over getting dismissed for six. In the second essay too, the Hitman failed to touch the double digits as he fell prey to Taskin Ahmed's delivery.

His Test curse continued against Bangladesh when the 24-year-old pacer set the senior pro up beautifully, with balls moving both ways before one finally found the edge and with heads down, the Indian captain made his way back to the dressing room.
Rohit's mode of dismissal was almost identical to the first innings as he was deceived by the line of the short-straight delivery from the right-arm pacer and ended up taking a thick edge from the bat. The ball flew towards the slip cordon and an alert Zakir took the catch at the widish third-slip. Rohit scored five off seven balls in the second innings.
Before playing this Test, Rohit Sharma had a miserable batting record against Bangladesh in Tests as he scored 33 runs in 3 innings. A lot was expected of the Indian skipper to deliver in red-soil challenging conditions but his poor dismissal in the first innings means that he needs to reassess his approach before it's too late. The Mumbaikar has amassed just 44 runs in 5 innings against Bangladesh in the longest format at an average of 8.8, which is terribly low from a player of his stature. While he haunted the Tigers in white-ball cricket, his Test performances, especially against Bangladesh in the Test format tell a very different story.
If you notice, Rohit’s dismissals in these innings have come earlier as he has been unable to convert his starts into good scores. In each of the four innings, he was dismissed cheaply. Also Read: Ashwin-Jadeja class act outshines Mahmud's heroics at Chepauk
Bangladesh’s bowlers have done the homework and exposed Rohit's frailties where they once again made sure that Rohit didn't get the chance to dictate terms. There has been a stark contrast between Rohit’s success against Bangladesh in white-ball cricket and his struggles against them in Test cricket.
Rohit has hammered Bangladesh bowlers in ODIs and T20Is, wherein he scored 786 runs in 17 ODIs at an average of 56.14, laced with three centuries and as many fifties. On the other hand, he scored 477 runs in 13 T20Is against the Tigers, including five fifties at a strike rate of 139.82.
