India and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has turned 36 on Sunday (April 30). Rohit, who has been a stalwart of the game, will be working on his birthday as Mumbai Indians take on Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede.
The Indian batter has played many memorable knocks with the Blue and White of India. He is the only batter in the world to have multiple ODI double-hundreds. The Mumbai-born player has made his mark as one of India's finest batters.
He is also the most successful IPL captain in the tournament's history. Rohit has guided MI to 5 IPL titles, most by any franchise. Over the years, he has played some amazing knock in the IPL and today we shall take a look at five of his best innings in the cash-rich Indian tournament-
Rohit Sharma scored his only IPL hundred in this match. The MI skipper played a fantastic knock on his favourite Eden Gardens. His unbeaten 109 guided MI to 182 runs. His inning had 12 fours and 5 sixes in it. MI went on to win the match by 27 runs.
KKR are often his favourite team as he has scored runs galore against them. In this knock, the MI captain missed his second ton by just 2 runs. It also came at the Eden Gardens as Rohit scored 98 off 65 balls, comprised of 12 fours and 4 sixes. But MI lost the match as KKR managed to chase their total down.
This was a scintillating inning by Hitman. Rohit demolished RCB in this match in 2018 as he went on to score 94 runs off just 52 balls. MI registered a gigantic total of 213 and Rohit was the main architect behind that. His inning was curated with 10 fours and 5 sixes, and MI also won the match by a handsome 46-run margin.
This inning the IPL 2011 was special because it came on a Wankhede pitch which was not the best deck to bat on. While others struggled, Rohit scored a sublime 87 off just 48 balls against a strong CSK bowling attack.
His inning was the telling factor as MI beat the Super Kings by 8 runs. Rohit's blistering strike rate of 181 was the highest, the second-best SR in the match was of just 147 by CSK's Subramaniam Badrinath.
Rohit's measured unbeaten 85 in this match helped MI to chase against now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants back in 2016. The MI captain anchored MI's run chase with his 60-ball inning, which was curated with 8 fours and 3 sixes. MI won the match by 8 wickets and Rohit was the Player of the Match.
