Rohit Sharma on Sunday gave India another flying start by hitting a 29-ball fifty in the second ODI against Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, August 4.
After Sri Lanka set a 241-run target for India, captain Rohit Sharma once again gave the Men in Blue a solid start. He brought up his fifty with a brilliant inside-out shot for a six over deep cover.

Rohit Sharma now has 53 sixes in the first 10 overs of ODI cricket since 2023. Former Australia opener David Warner is a distant second with just 24 ODI sixes during the period in the first 10 overs.
Rohit Sharma brought up his second consecutive fifty of the series on the fourth ball of the 10th over. In the first ODI, the 37-year-old smashed a 33-ball fifty inside the first 10 overs. Only Virender Sehwag has hit more ODI fifties for India inside the first 10 overs than Rohit Sharma.

The star batter also broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most fifty-plus scores as an Indian opener in International cricket. He has 121 fifties, one more than batting great Tendulkar, who registered 50-plus scores 121 times as an opener.
Rohit Sharma's partnership with Shubman Gill accounted for 97 runs in the second ODI which India are looking to win and take a crucial 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The first ODI got tied even after the duo stitched 75 runs together for the first wicket. India were bundled out for 230 after Rohit's departure.
