Rohit Sharma Captaincy Record and Stats in IPL So Far: All You Need To Know About MI Skipper
The Indian opener Rohit Sharma is the most decorated captains in the Indian Premier League, having led the Mumbai Indians to the much coveted title a record number of times so far.
Rohit, who won the IPL trophy as player for now defunct Deccan Chargers, has led MI to five title wins in IPL, winning five of five finals as captain of a team, making him the only player to win the cash-rich IPL six times.
The current India captain has led the Mumbai Indians to the IPL title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. In 2009, under the leadership of Adam Gilchrist, Rohit lifted the title at Deccan Chargers.
In his IPL career so far, Rohit has scored close to 6000 runs, smashed the most sixes by an Indian player in the league with 250 maximums and is the third most capped player in the IPL behind Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik.
Rohit started his captaincy journey in IPL midway through the 2013 season, when Ricky Ponting stepped down hand the Mumbai youngster the chance to lead the side and that decision has paid off very well as he helped the side win the IPL in his very first season as captain.
Apart from Rohit and Ponting, legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Kieron Pollard and Shaun Pollock have also led the Mumbai Indians in the 16 seasons they have competed in the Indian Premier League.
