In the ruthless world of cricket, many talents go unnoticed. In India, thousands of coaches have dedicated their lives to bolster the next generation of Indian cricket.

Across the length and breadth of India, all the coaches work tirelessly behind the scenes, shaping up the budding cricketer who goes on to become a giant in the future.

Coaching is far from a cakewalk. It demands unwavering commitment and a deep investment of time and energy to nurture raw talent. A coach's role goes beyond mere guidance-they refine, polish, and dedicate themselves tirelessly, often going above and beyond the norm, to help shape a player's journey to success.

Recently, Rohit Sharma's coach Dinesh Lad shared a message with the coaches of India on how to be assertive in their own roles. During a chat with MyKhel, the current Mumbai U19 coach, who has shaped the India captain and many others, spoke on how the coaches across the country mustn't let the parents of a student interfere in their own decision-making.

"I will only give one message that I feel it is wrong to say this. I shouldn't have said this. But, keep your parents away from coaching. Nowadays, I see that parents are getting a lot of interference. Because, when parents give money, they feel that they have bought the coaches. Because, I have been in coaching for the last 28 years. I have not taken money from anyone yet. And, I never take money from anyone. So, I take my decision," Lad said.

Lad also continued that he has the strict policy of non-interference from parents and he never discusses anything regarding the development of a player, urging other coaches to do the same.

"I tell parents that 'don't interfere in my coaching. And don't ask me how my child is doing.' As a coach, I feel proud that my student will play cricket at a good level. Every coach wants this. Every coach wants this. But, many coaches make parents sit with them. In front of their parents, they say 'Your son will do this. He will do that.' So, stop saying this," Rohit Sharma's coach added.

Along with that, Lad also believes the quality of the truly talented players must be recognized and the coaches must work more on those players, rather than having a large bunch of students in the academy.

"I feel that talent comes from everywhere. There is talent everywhere. And, basically, not all kids are talented. But, select a few kids who you feel will become good cricketers in the future. I feel we should focus more on them. We should prioritize quality over quantity," he concluded.

Dinesh Lad has been at the pinnacle of coaching over the last decades and apart from Rohit Sharma, the likes of Siddesh Lad and Shardul Thakur are some of his renowned students.
