Rohit Sharma Confirms Mumbai Availability for Vijay Hazare Trophy, Eyes 2027 World Cup Preparation
Rohit Sharma has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will be available to represent Mumbai in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, adding another significant boost to India's domestic 50-over competition. The former India captain is expected to join the Mumbai squad after completing the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in December.
According to a report by The Indian Express, Rohit has communicated his availability to the MCA, although the number of matches he will feature in remains undecided. An MCA source indicated that the batter would provide further clarity on his participation at a later stage.

India's ODI series against Sri Lanka will take place from December 13 to 19, with matches scheduled in Delhi, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the Vijay Hazare Trophy league stage begins on December 14 and continues until December 29, followed by the knockout rounds from January 2 to 8.
Rohit could therefore feature in the final part of Mumbai's league-stage campaign after completing his international commitments. He will not be involved in the subsequent T20I series against Sri Lanka, having retired from the shortest international format in 2024.
This will be Rohit's second consecutive Vijay Hazare Trophy appearance. Last season, he represented Mumbai in two matches in Jaipur, scoring a remarkable 155 off 94 deliveries against Sikkim before registering a golden duck against Uttarakhand.
His participation will be particularly important with India building towards the 2027 ODI World Cup. With no scheduled ODI series between the Zimbabwe assignment in January and the IPL, domestic cricket could provide Rohit with valuable match practice.
Rohit is also reportedly in line for a return as Mumbai Indians captain in IPL 2027, although the franchise has not officially confirmed the development.
