Rohit Sharma has dropped a major hint over his retirement plans with his comments on the T20 World Cup 2024 while speaking at an event in the USA. Notably, the T20 World Cup 2024 is set to be held in June next year in the USA and West Indies.
After the completion of the ODI series in the West Indies, Rohit travelled to the USA for the launch of his cricket academy 'Crickingdom'. Rohit led India to a 1-0 victory in the Test series against West Indies. He played just the first ODI against West Indies and rested himself for the next two games to give opportunity to the youngsters.

Winds of change have started to blow in the Indian team ever since India's exit at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Hardik Pandya is leading a young Indian side in the T20I format. The likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli haven't played a single T20I after India's exit from the T20 World Cup 2022.
The transition in the Test team has also begun. The same is being expected with the ODI squad following the upcoming ICC World Cup in October-November. The marquee 50-over event would be the last one for the likes of Kohli, Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja.
Rohit Sharma is 36-year-old at the moment and it remains to be seen how he plans out his future with the Indian team after the World Cup 2023.
The opener, however, dropped a major hint about his retirement plans while addressing the fans in the USA Fans. While there have been suggestions that the Mumbai star should focus just on ODI or Test cricket, he looks in a mood to play one more T20 World Cup.
"More than just going and enjoying, there is another reason to come here (in the USA). Because you know the World Cup is coming. In June, there will be the T20 World Cup (2024) happening in this part of the world. So, I'm pretty sure everyone is excited. So yaa, we look forward to that," Rohit said in the video.
The news has excited the fans of Rohit Sharma but a lot would depend on India's outing at the ODI World Cup 2023 and Rohit's performance in the IPL 2024. Even if he does well, it's highly unlikely that Rohit would play another T20I World Cup for India.
The likes of Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma and Ruturaj Gaikwad have already been inducted in the team and the selectors are unlikely to make a u-turn.
